Lighthouse Amongst the Rocks

This stunning scene is set in breathtaking Acadia National Park. I’ve always admired the history and beauty that lighthouses represent, this one in particular. It embodies Maine in many ways, showcasing its rugged coastline, towering pine trees, and the protection of its shores. This painting of Bass Harbor Lighthouse is located in Tremont, Maine and was built in 1858. A fun fact about Bass Harbor Light: it includes an oil house that originally stored whale and porpoise oil. Later, it housed kerosene, and today, it is powered by electricity.
