Blue Hour

The “Blue Hour” is a magical time, nestled between twilight and the golden hour, giving everything a blue or purple hue. This painting captures the serene beauty of Starboard Cove, located right across from Machiasport, Maine. The photograph that inspired this piece was taken by a gentleman in his 90s. When I asked, through a mutual friend who happened to be his neighbor, if I could paint this rare and stunning scene of the purple morning sky, he graciously agreed.
